A prediction model for the loading-wetting volumetric behavior of unsaturated granular materials

Geotechnical structures made of granular material tend to be unsaturated during their service life. However, there is presently a lack sufficient research and studies on volumetric behavior under conditions. In this study, loading wetting induced materials in the state was studied within moisture content-based framework. Recycled crushed brick (CB) excavation waste rock (WR) were used promote sustainable construction. Several loading, unloading, paths investigated with respect virgin compaction surfaces (VCS) developed using groups curves. The obtained experimental data utilized develop constitutive model capable predicting wetting-induced volume changes net stress range 100–4000 kPa gravimetric content 3.6% for WR, 7.5% CB saturation. verified by undertaking several independent comparing responses those predicted model. proposed featured simplicity acquiring input parameters aim filling existing gap between theoretical real-life application soil mechanics. An can basis prediction settlement geotechnical structure that being externally loaded subject due climatic effects.
